Important Information for Cross-Border Shipments from Canada

Policy Changes Effective Immediately

Due to recent changes in tariff and de minimis rules between the US and Canada, we have updated our shipping policies for all US orders. Please review the following information carefully before you order.

Shipping Account Requirements
  1. Prepaid shipping is no longer available for shipments to the United States
  2. All orders must be shipped using your own carrier account (UPS, FedEx, or DHL)
  3. Carrier account details must be provided during checkout
  4. Orders cannot be processed without valid carrier account information
Fees and Charges

Important:  In addition to shipping fees, you will be responsible for ALL of the following:

  1. All applicable tariffs and duties
  2. Carrier brokerage fees
  3. Customs clearance charges
  4. Any additional carrier handling fees
  5. All fees will be charged directly to your carrier account

Will I be charged tariffs for your products?

All LED modules that we offer qualify for tariff-free treatment under current USMCA/CUSMA rules
All drivers that we offer are manufactured in the US and are tariff-free
Alpha heatsinks are subject to Section 232 derivative tariff rules due to their aluminum content
All optical products we offer are subject to US tariffs

Do Section 232 tariffs apply to your LED modules?

Yes, LED modules are subject to Section 232 derivative tariff rules due to their aluminum content. However, the volume and value of aluminum in each module are extremely low. (1.6 grams and about $0.25 per module)

My carrier incorrectly charged tariffs on your modules or another product you provided.

Most carriers offer an online dispute process for incorrectly applied tariffs or fees.

Will you submit electronic copies of customs documentation to my carrier?

  1. An electronic copy of the commercial invoice will be submitted to UPS, FedEx, and DHL
  2. Electronic copies of commonly requested customs documents will be submitted to UPS
  3. We currently cannot submit electronic copies of commonly requested documents to FedEx or DHL. We will email you copies of these documents when your order ships.

What customs documents will you supply?

The following documents will be emailed to you for every shipment.
  1. Commercial Invoice
  2. USMCA/CUSMA Certificate
  3. FDA Form
  4. USDA Form
  5. EPA Form
  6. Section 232 Form

My carrier is requesting a document you have not provided. Can you supply it?

If you receive a request for a document we have not supplied, contact us, and we will determine whether we can provide it.

My shipment has been stuck in customs for several days now. How can I get it moving again?

You can contact your carrier company to see if additional documentation is needed. But beyond this, there isn’t much that can be done if customs holds a shipment.
Note: Normal customs clearance takes 24-72 hours. Delays beyond this timeframe usually indicate missing documentation or pending payments.

I am having trouble getting my shipment cleared through customs. Can you help?

Beyond providing additional information or documents upon request, we cannot assist with shipments delayed due to:
  1. Customs clearance issues
  2. Carrier delays or routing problems
  3. Duty or tax payment delays
