LED Drivers
All Rebel LEDs must be powered using a current regulating driver. The driver you select will depend on the needed lumens output, the number of LEDs being powered, the input voltage source, and the required drive current. Our Knowledgebase offers several helpful articles about powering LEDs. Click the Drivers tab on this page for a list of compatible drivers.
Thermal Management
The SW-01-E2 LED module requires careful attention to mounting and cooling to ensure that the junction temperature of the LED is kept well below the maximum rating specified in the Lumileds datasheet. Detailed instructions for measuring the LED junction temperature can be found in the LED module datasheet. We recommend that the module be mounted to an aluminum or copper finned heatsink exposed to open air for optimal cooling. The module can be mounted to the heat sink in one of two ways:
- 20mm star pressure sensitive, thermally conductive tape (Recommended)
- Arctic Silver thermally conductive adhesive
Before fastening the module to the heat sink, ensure the module and heatsink surfaces are flat and clean for optimal heat transfer. Mechanical fasteners are not recommended for this module. The bottom of the LED module is electrically neutral, so it is unnecessary to electrically isolate the base from the cooling surface. Click the Cooling tab on this page for a list of compatible heatsinks and supplies.
Optics
Rebel LEDs include a silicone lens to protect the LED chip and extract the maximum amount of light. This optic is quite delicate, and care must be taken to avoid touching or applying any force against it as it can be easily dislodged from the LED. Most applications use a secondary optic positioned above the LED to further shape and focus the light output. The SW-01 module has been designed to accommodate a variety of optics and holders from major optics manufacturers. Click the Optics tab on this page for a list of compatible optics.
Optional IDC Connectors
If you order the optional IDC connectors, a punch-down tool will be included with the module at no charge. This tool can be used with any standard 1/4″ hex-bit screwdriver handle. Connectors are available for 22, 24, and 26 AWG solid or stranded wire. The connectors wire gauge will be printed on the top of the LED module.
LED Binning
We offer binned versions of this LED module when ordered in reel quantities (1000 pieces). Please contact us for binning details before you order
For orders less than 1000 pieces, binning information is not available. In these cases, modules are assembled from cut strips of LEDs, where individual bin numbers are not tracked. You can learn more about LED binning here.
