CUSMA (Canada-United States-Mexico Agreement) is the trade agreement that replaced NAFTA in 2020. Products manufactured in Canada that meet CUSMA rules of origin can enter the United States duty-free. Because all our LED modules are manufactured in Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada, the majority of our catalog qualifies — 1,556 products are tagged as CUSMA Compliant.
What This Means for US Customers
Products that qualify under CUSMA are exempt from US customs duties that would otherwise apply to imported LED components. This can represent significant savings on larger orders, as LED modules imported from non-CUSMA countries (e.g., China, Taiwan) are typically subject to tariff rates that fluctuate with trade policy.
Which Products Qualify
Most of our LED modules, heatsinks, and thermal management products qualify. Browse the CUSMA Compliant category to see all qualifying products. Each qualifying product’s listing indicates CUSMA compliance.
Products that may not qualify include:
- Third-party optics (manufactured outside North America by Carclo, Khatod, etc.)
- Some LED driver products (manufactured by LEDdynamics in the US — these are already US-origin, so CUSMA is not relevant)
USPS Tariff-Free Shipping
For US orders up to $800, we offer USPS shipping where LuxeonStar prepays all duties and customs fees. This eliminates import paperwork for smaller orders entirely. Above $800, orders ship via UPS, FedEx, or DHL and CUSMA documentation is included to claim duty-free entry.
For Canadian Customers
CUSMA does not affect Canadian orders — our products ship domestically within Canada with no customs or duties involved. GST/HST is applied at checkout as required.
For International Customers
CUSMA applies only to US and Mexico imports from Canada. International customers outside North America are responsible for their own country’s import duties and taxes, regardless of CUSMA status.
